By Chris Cesena, Executive Protection Director
Over the past two years I’ve had the opportunity to work on several “Requests for Proposal” for our company. In those “RFP’s” I write quite a bit about what current and new clients get when they do business with SIS. It’s actually pretty simple. Take a look in a mirror. What they want, and what they get, is everything that you represent. We all should know our mission statement:
“Security Industry Specialists, Inc. provides innovative security solutions and services for people, their assets and facilities — anywhere, anytime — in a comprehensive manner tailored to meet the individualized needs of each client.”
The only way that we can fulfill our mission is through the hard work of people like you. What we tell current and prospective clients is that we focus on doing the right thing to the best of our ability every day. Our job is to help our clients succeed in every way possible by focusing on execution. Day in and day out we see this magic happen amongst ourselves.
We know that other companies are not like us, that they deal in mediocrity. Take for instance the term we use for what other companies call, “security guards.” We refer to them as “Specialists,” because we know that what they provide every day to the client is above and beyond what those other companies provide. We expend significant resources to identify and select the right candidates based on our client’s cultures and needs. Our goal is to hire the top 10% or better of applicants, and our clients and potential clients know and expect that.
I have found that most companies ask about you and your colleagues: “What does SIS do to attract and retain only the best?” One way is to treat our people well and with respect. Our goal is for our Specialists to view their job as a career, knowing that they will receive full support from the rest of the company so they can achieve that success. When John, Tom, Jim, Dave, Tom and Pedro enter those conference rooms with clients to tell the SIS story, they are often asked, “Why SIS?” What they are told is that everyone associated with the SIS family will “tailor” their work, and the service, to best serve the client, that SIS is innovative, it is solution driven, and that we will ensure a positive client experience through a constant sense of urgency in responding to change, client requirements, and client concerns. Our company’s core values are to remain hyper-responsive, transparent, and accountable. And none of it is possible without the dedication all of you bring to work each day.
When I meet with my colleagues — my managers and Specialists — at the Operation sites I oversee, I often mention my RFP work to them. I find nothing more important than reminding them that they, and all of the members of the SIS family in every office, are the reason we are successful. Who is SIS? It’s all of you.
